Hello!
I’m Dr. Carolyn Bufford Funk. I'm a curious and creative research leader, consultant, strategist, and mentor. I have an ongoing fascination with how people think, feel, learn, and behave. It's why I earned my PhD in Psychology (major in Cognitive, minor in Quantitative / Statistics) from UCLA.
It's also why I love UX research. I get to apply my psychology knowledge and my research skills to make better products and services, for both people and businesses.
I have over a decade of experience leading innovative research in complex domains. In that time, I've led dozens of generative and evaluative projects - quant, qual, and mixed-methods. SecurityScorecard (a cybersecurity ratings startup - see case study),
Microsoft (I worked on AI and advanced search on mobile, and extreme communicators)
the PathCheck Foundation (startup-phase health technology nonprofit - see case study)
Neochrome, Inc. (boutique web design and development agency).
Key competencies: research strategy, communication, cross-functional collaboration, mixed-methods research and analysis, statistics, cognitive psychology, Jobs to Be Done (JTBD)
